The spark to create this organization came while she was helping her closest friends with their math homework. She always found it rewarding to know that she was bringing a ray of sunshine to someone’s life. During her travel to India, she had seen families and children suffer to find food, and a roof to live under. That made her realize how privileged she was. Lot of things that she had taken for granted are considered rare luxury in other parts of the world.

She had time to reflect on this during the pandemic break. She heard the news about a lot of poor kids losing their parents in COVID-19 infection. Poor kids that were already struggling to get basic necessities of life, now had lost the only support they had. This made her heart cry and Global Parivar was born.

Rutvi is also a member of the UNICEF USA Youth Council, where she advocates for the concerns and perspectives of children and young people. Her role on the Youth Council complements her efforts as a changemaker, which began with Global Parivar.
